I've always wanted to use that word.
Post #5: 5 places you want to visit
This isn't in any particular order.
Sea of Stars on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives
I saw this place on a buzzfeed article and I think it's awesome.
The Skagit Tulip Festival
The pictures people post on facebook are always really cool and it's one of those tourist-y spots I've never been to. And the Space Needle is overrated.
South Korea
(I googled street food in korea XP)
Hawaii, for obvious reasons
London, England
I just love their accent. Even though the weather there is worse than it is here.

Post #4: The meaning behind your tumblr name
I'm gonna pass on this one. Nothing interesting of note... I write things about myself or things that happen to me. I watched the new Lily Collins movie called The Mortal Instruments I really liked this movie and I can't wait for the sequel. Too lazy to read the book series by Cassandra Clare though. You should watch it because it has Caius from the Twilight series and he's surprisingly attractive even though his leather jacket paired with his leather Justin Bieber pants are atrocious. It also has this guy from the show Misfits that's on Hulu and he looks a lot more polished in this movie. Anyway, the reason I watched it is because I just became a Lily Collins fan after watching a movie called Stuck In Love. I thought it'd be similar to Love Actually, but it's more like Perks of Being A Wallflower, and that's the kind of movie I really like watching.
I don't know why I love these cheesy movies because it drives my family crazy that I watch garbage like this. I think I just really love the suspense leading up to the leads "falling in love". It's just awesome when people get it right. Anyway, this is also a pretty lame post but I wanted to write something since I didn't get any studying done today. Til tomorrow, or the next time I write something.

Super interesting blog title for blog challenge day 3!
Your day:
Well, today started off pretty boring. Woke up, felt too lazy to wash my hair or shower and didn't bother putting on perfume because I wanted to go to a cafe to study. Don't wanna be "that girl" that wears overwhelmingly obnoxious perfume in a coffee shop, right? Overanalyzing? Probably.
Well anyway, after doing some chores around the house I left for Cafe Ladro with my dad and we studied there for about four hours-ish. I actually got a lot of work done. My dad and I ordered the "Medici" because the barista said it was his favorite drink. He described it as a mocha with orange zest flavor, and I'm a pretty big fan of the chocolate orange so I obviously wanted to try this. DO NOT TRY THIS. Unless you have quite low expectations/have never tried the deliciousness that is the chocolate orange. Well I couldn't even finish it and I felt terrible because it was almost $5.00 for 16oz. Ridiculosity. But I was quite pleased with my progress in ochem, crappy coffee aside.
Then Chris and Jennifer came by the cafe to hang out and chat, which was pretty cool and awesome and not nearly as awkward as I thought it was going to be. I've become one of those people who've forgotten the basics of conversation-making. Luckily Chris and Jennifer are good at it. I need some more practice haha.
Then my dad came to get me (Oh, he left because he had a headache/needed a study break/didn't want to feel awkward when Chris came in-- what an awesome dad) and we went to this gyro place. I really dislike lamb meat because the texture and look of it freak me out. Why are there black dots in it? WHY?!
Also, I love pita bread, so whenever I ask for chicken instead of the traditional lamb meat, I feel like I'm being mega-judged. Is that the Greek/Mediterranean equivalent of asking for soondoobu without the doobu? Nathan did that at San Maru once and the waiter gave him the dirtiest look. So rude. But also hilarious.
Just sayin.
Anyway, when we got the food home my mom was still watching 24, which drives me insane because the plot is awful and it happens painfully slow / in "real time". Also, the guy who plays the president will forever and always be Mr. All State Guy. I can't get over it.
And now that my mom is upstairs, I'm sleeping on the couch in the living room because she's sick and doesn't want to infect my dad since he needs to study for his new board exam at the end of the month. I've just been snacking/drinking peach tea with honey/watching youtube videos. I'll probably do it all over again tomorrow. How exciting! Anyway, sorry, lame post. Actually, not sorry. Today was probably an unusually exciting day than most. Baiiiii.

Reboot: BLAH-ging.
Kinda failed didn't I?
Day 2: 10 likes and dislikes
I was thinking about this yesterday and I'm not quite sure if I want to list random things I like, or if I should count people/food/hobbies, because that would make this list so hard to put together. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm going to go the pet peeves route.
10 dislikes.
1. Smoking right in front of the entrance to a place I am trying to enter/exit. Rude. Stop.
2. When people are looking over my head/at something far away but it looks like they're just staring at me.
3. Slurpers/Extremely loud eaters. If I can hear you eating and it sounds wet, and then it turns out to be bread/crackers/something dry my face is like,
4. The word "moist". (This is actually kind of a new thing. It always bothered me but it never really grossed me out until last year.)
5. Cilantro, basil, mushrooms or green onions. Death. Okay, too dramatic. Annoying.
6. Disrespectful people. They will be victims to the Ass Crack Bandit sooner or later. (Omg, Community reference in case you don't watch it.)
7. My fingernails. 8. The way my phone lags when I try to open an app or fails to save a picture I took.
9. Not having time to paint or read or pinterest as much as I want because I have to study.
10. That I'm poor/can't do all of the things I want to do while I'm young.
Done! On to more positive things!
1. Puppies. 2. The color green. 3. Green puppies? Jk. High quality fabrics. Random, I know. 4. Fish eye lens pictures.
5. Pseudo-philosophical thoughts right before you fall asleep/as you're coming out of a dream. Almost epiphanies but mostly delirious nonsense.
6. Smiling. 7. Bad jokes. 8. Really, really, really, painfully cheesy teen movies. 9. Keira Knightley. 10. Jake Gyllenhaal circa 2001. Pre-Taylor Swift We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Anyway, that's it! I probably won't get any better at blogging regularly, but this was fun.

blog challenge day 1
Day 1: Write some basic things about yourself.
(I'm not very good at thinking of things to blog about without sounding quite whiny so I've decided to use the blog challenge.)
So #1, my name is Ariel. I get Little Mermaid jokes most often, and my friends tell me to "go back to the ocean" when I say something sassy.
#2 I'm 22
#3 I have the same birthday as Rihanna (Feb 20), I don't know how I feel about this. #neutral
#4 I'm a senior at UW and I'm working on my general Biology and English degrees.
#5 I decided to double major because I thought English would be easy, but I actually like it a lot more than Bio.
#6 I was born in Evanston, Illinois. I tell people I'm from Chicago, but I only lived there for about 6 months and my parents moved us to Washington while I was still a baby. Apparently I was a very good baby and didn't cry on the plane but it was really because I'd stay up all night long crying and tire myself out during the day. This goes for church service as well.
#7 I'm really weird. I like coring apples and filling it with peanut butter. I'm loud and obnoxious when you get to know me, but I can't speak in public to save my life. or my grades. I received a 3.0 in a very easy English class because I refused to participate in the discussion. I still don't know why I'm so nervous about it. But I'm getting better.
#8 Those were all probably different facts but I don't want to have too many numbers.
#9 If I really had to choose, I would say forest green is my favorite color and 8 is my favorite number. For no reason in particular.
#10 I'm a Christian, because I'd like to believe there's some purpose to life and all that good stuff. I'm an optimist and I usually will believe everything you tell me.
#11 My favorite author is still Kurt Vonnegut, and I read his book The Sirens of Titan for the first time in 10th grade because he had just passed away and my English teacher, whom I still admire, Mr. Billeau, wanted us to appreciate his work. I did.
#12 My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley and ever since, I've wanted to perfect an English accent. I also wish everyone acted as civilized as they did, but with better hygiene.
#13 I don't have any girl friends, and I don't know why this is. My fear is that I will be the female version of Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man.
#14 I pick up a lot of hobbies when I'm stressed out. So far, painting, t-shirt designing, plushie-making, sewing, DIYing old clothes, bracelet making, and most recently I've dabbled in wire jewelry. My fingers are extremely raw.
#15 Some day I want to start vlogging and not feel awkward about it.
That's all for now, I need to actually study for some tests and things so I can graduate and be done with undergrad. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

it's blogging time. Post 1: Tuesday, 5/7/13
i have decided to start blogging again. why? well, i'm taking philosophy 100. a class that my dad told me not to take but as fate would have it, it's the one i chose over the history of modern medicine (because the prof in that class is a california hippy and i knew i wouldn't like her, plus my philosophy TA is this perky bubbly chatty guy that fences in national championships and is cool in general). anyway, we are going over epistemology now and it reminded me of a blog post i wrote a long time ago about whether things only existed once i was aware of them (or something i didn't explicitly write, that people's entire existences were based on me knowing them at a later point in time, requiring them to exist before i actually met that person). so i read a bunch of older posts looking for this one and read through the comments, and i was reminded of how cool i used to be (or at least, i think i was cool!) so i'd like to take up blogging again and hopefully i'll read this later on in life and be like, "wow i was a really cool kid"
so yeah, this is my life. at 22 and a quarter.
